This 3M(TM) Littmann® electronic stethoscope provides amplification up to 18 times greater than the best non-electronic stethoscope. A built-in LCD display provides easy viewing of the patient's heart rate. Three frequency modes are available for listening to the heart, lung and other body sounds: Bell (20-200 Hz), Diaphragm (100-500 Hz) and Extended Range (20-1000 Hz).

Ambient Noise Reduction Technology Ambient Noise Reduction (ANR) technology acoustically cancels out an average of 75% (-12dB) of distracting room noise. This acoustic canceling effect is different than electronic filtering, which may also filter out some portions of body sounds. Since ambient noise is not just in the air, but also travels through the patient's body, ANR helps reduce the distracting noise without filtering away the sounds you want to hear. Noise from the room enters the stethoscope through a thin gap in the chestpiece and once inside, meets noise that enters through the body. The two noises cancel each other out, leaving the heart, lung and other body sounds that you want to hear.

Sound Analysis Software Digital signal processing with the included software offers recording, storage and playback capabilities, and the ability to transfer recorded sounds via an infrared transmission to other Littmann Model 4000 or 4100 stethoscopes, IBM-compatible computer or hand-held device. When combined with the software, you have an exquisite, state-of-the-art auscultation system which allows you to see what you're hearing visually.
